Symptoms
PAIN ABDOMEN
Pain abdomen may be due to peptic alcer, cancer, pancreatitis, dysmotility, obstruction, gallstones, CBD stones etc. Treatment is done by medicines ,endoscopy or surgery.
MALENA
Coaltar like stool is called malena.It indicates bleeding in gastrointestinal tract.This is a serious condition and requires urgent attention.
WEIGHT LOSS
Weight loss should not be ignored. There might be serious diseases like tuberculosis or cancer.
VOMITING
Vomiting is important symptom of gastritis, obstruction,pancreatitis and jaundice.
JAUNDICE
Jaundice is generally due to inflammation in liver or obstruction in biliary channel.If jaundice is associated with pruritus and fever, it may be due serious diseases like stone or tumour obstructing biliary channel.
DIARRHEA AND CONSTIPATION
Diarrhea and costipation may be due to minor infections and motility disorders or serious disorders like tuberculosis and cancer.
BLEEDING PER RECTUM
Bleeding per rectum may be due to piles, fissure, polyps or tumours.

GASTROINTESTINAL & LIVER CANCER
Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer is a term for the group of cancers that affect the digestive system. This includes cancers of the oesophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, bowel (large intestine or colon and rectum), and anus.Generally digestive disease cancers are presented with loss of appetite, vomiting and weight loss.Treatment are surgery ,chemotherapy and or Radiotherapy.Resection of small tumours can be done by endoscopy. Palliation of symptoms of cancer are also done by endoscopy in a better way.Most common is stenting of oesophagus,colon and biliary channel.
ULCERATIVE COLITIS, CROHN'S' DISEASE
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease are together called as Inflammatory bowel disease.Both are chronic disease .Ulcerative colitis mainly involves large intestine and Crohn’s disease involves large intestine, small intestine and other parts of gut.Bleeding ,diarrhea and pain abdomen are main clinical features.Treatment are medical and surgical.Medical therapy is given for long term and when it fails then surgery is done.
FOOD ALLERGY
Food allergies or food intolerances affect nearly everyone at some point. People often have an unpleasant reaction to something they eat. One out of three people either say that they have a food allergy or that they modify the family diet because a family member is suspected of having a food allergy.Avoidance of allergic food is only remedy.
ANEMIA OF VITAMIN DEFICIENCY
Vitamin deficiency anemia is a lack of healthy red blood cells caused by lower than normal amounts of certain vitamins. Vitamins linked to vitamin deficiency anemia include folate, vitamin B-12 and vitamin C.Poor intake or absorption may be the cause of vitamin deficiency.
FOREIGN BODY INGESTION
Most swallowed foreign bodies pass harmlessly through the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Foreign bodies that damage the GI tract, become lodged, or have associated toxicity must be identified and removed.Most of time foreign bodies are removed endoscopically.
GERD
GERD is gastroesophageal reflux disease. Gastric contents enters oesophagus due to weak gastroesophageal barrier and damage the oesophageal mucosa. Patient may complain of heartburn and chest pain. Treatment is done by medicine and sometimes surgery is also required.
CBD stone
CBD stones are formed in CBD or it may slips down from gallbladder. Patients complain of right side abdomen pain, vomiting or jaundice. Treatment is done by endoscopy [ERCP] or surgery.
I.B.S.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a dysmotilty disorder of gastrointestinal tract. Routine investigations are normal in this condition. Patients generally complains of pain abdomen, diarrhea or constipation. Most have time disease is not cured and patients become hopeless. The worst part of this disease is that, it is not cured but best part is that, it never harms the body. Treatment is medical and Psychotherapy.
